# Slow Yourself Down

> Slow Yourself Down is an organic cotton clothing and lifestyle brand founded by Aamion Goodwin in 2013, based at the Slow Yourself Down compound in Hanalei, Kaua'i, Hawai'i. We make clothing, original art, mindful drinkware, and small-batch goods designed to help people breathe deeper and savor life's simple pleasures.

## How it started

In 2011, Aamion Goodwin — a former professional athlete — traveled the world with his wife Daize and their toddler and newborn, carrying simple stickers that read "Slow Yourself Down." People everywhere resonated with the message. The family's journey during this time was the subject of the documentary *Given*.

In 2013, the family bought a shave ice truck in Hanalei (the Wishing Well Shave Ice truck), built a small storefront off the back, and started spreading the message to visitors passing through town. A couple years later — and after welcoming their third child — they expanded into a dedicated Slow Yourself Down retail store directly behind the truck. From those humble beginnings the brand has grown into the Slow Yourself Down compound: a vibrant hub of creativity and community in the heart of Hanalei, with the Wishing Well Coffee & Tea House just a handful of yards behind the home store.

We have two retail locations on the Hawaiian islands:

- **Hanalei, Kaua'i** — 5-5080 Kuhio Hwy, Hanalei, HI 96714. Open Mon-Sun 8am-7pm. The Hanalei home store is the "cream in the middle" of the SYD compound, sitting between the Wishing Well Shave Ice truck and the Wishing Well Coffee & Tea House. Free water jug refills for everyone who stops in.
