Derek is an integral part of the Slow Yourself Down team, bringing his passion for content creation and hands-on craftsmanship to the brand. With over 200k subscribers on YouTube as "Handeeman," Derek has built a community of followers who share his love for DIY projects, particularly in the areas of off grid systems and sustainable design. His journey began as an electrician during his apprenticeship days, where he honed his skills in construction and practical problem-solving.

Prior to meeting his wife Hannah, Derek cycle toured through Southeast Asia and Australia. Living a very minimal life for years, he learned the value of simplicity and adaptability. This experience not only deepened his love for adventure but also shaped his approach to life and work. On his tours, Derek embraced a lifestyle that required him to rely on only the essentials, which continues to influence the way he approaches Slow Yourself Down and its emphasis on quality, thoughtful design, and intentional living.

Beyond his YouTube success, Derek has channeled his creativity into Slow Yourself Down, playing a key role in building out the brand’s online store. His deep understanding of digital platforms and e-commerce has helped establish a stronger online presence for the brand, making it easier for customers to explore and purchase their favorite pieces.
