Prior to joining the Slow Yourself Down team, I worked in product merchandising and management for 10 years; for big brands, big names, big deals. After a while, I started to lose steam as I learned more about how little care was being given to HOW the products were created. It was evident that the bottom line mattered far more than how our product was coming to life. I left the industry feeling defeated about the trajectory of apparel and big corporations as a whole. Everything felt like it had lost its heart.
Fast forward 10 years and I found myself drinking coffee (the most delicious coffee, mind you!) in front of Slow Yourself Down in Hanalei. I think we’ve all spoken to it in our articles, about the magic of the compound, but I felt it, and can assure you, it’s real. I felt deep in my bones that I was standing on the doorstep of a company that was choosing to create differently; intentionally, carefully and meaningfully. And now that I have the honor of being a part of it, I can say with certainty that my feelings were spot on.
